Backyard bloom in June

It mostly walker low catmint is in full bloom, it is been almost a month blooming. Pairing the blue with chartreuse  is a real deal, beautiful, pop the color within dark green from the trees and lawn.

catmintIt is very low maintenance and drought tolerant, the only work I did to get this view, just cut back the last year growth on catmint in early spring, just leave about 1 inch above the base. I did different method to see how it survive during winter.

1. I cut it back in the fall after first frost

2. I cut it back in early spring

Both method are work, there is nothing different with the result. The catmint survive either way and still look gorgeous in the summer. It is hardy in zone 3.

 

 

Front yard garden in June

Front yard is starting colorful, peony is in full bloom, I also planted pink petunia for more color theme to match the peony . Most of it are perennial and fairly low maintenance .IMG_5934

I love walker low catmint for lavender substitute, and it looks contrast with the yellow magic carpet spirea.

 

Baked Breaded Chicken Breast

We eat lots of chicken breast. But often dry out if we bake it too long. The trick to get moist chicken breast is bake it in high temperature for short time. It is healthy alternative than frying method. Less oil , quick and mess free.

Baked Breaded Chicken Breast

Ingredient:

  • 4 chicken breast
  • 1 cup bread crumb ( mix in 1 tsp dried thyme, 1 tsp dried basil, 1 tsp dried parsley)
  • For marinate :
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp. white vinegar or balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp  each of dried basil, dried oregano, dried parsley, dried thyme
  • 2 tbsp. light olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. fresh cracked black pepper

Direction:

  • Mix all ingredient for marinate, just like making salad dressing. Pour the mixture into chicken breast, marinate it for an hour or overnight in the fridge.
  • Turn oven on 450 deg.
  • Line baking sheet with non stick foil. Coat chicken breast with bread crumb mixture, put chicken breast on baking sheet, bake it for 10 minutes, flip it then bake it for another 8 – 10 minutes.
