We stay in Seminyak, Bali, so these are the best restaurants I went. All have beautiful and unique decorations on its own.
From the modern structure type to the traditional one, all are interesting without sacrifice the flavor of their menu.
1. Sabeen
Located in the heart of Seminyak, within short walking distances from the villa I stay. Sabeen serve Asian and international dish. The price was affordable for four of us, still below $100, that includes drink, main course, appetizer. We had nasi campur (it is a rijstaffel dish with all traditional Balinese dish on one plate), fried rice, fried noodle, drinks. They have live music band there, and we can request a song we like. Sabeen restaurant is attached to The Haven Hotel , but the restaurant is in the front easily accessible from the main road. I like Sabeen, but it is too formal for us.
2. Bebek Tebasari Resto
Located in Ubud, about 10 minutes drive from Monkey Forest Ubud. Bebek Tebasari Resto has a traditional decor but comfortable. Built by wood frame gazebo type structure, bamboo floor, and straw roof, on top of koi pond surrounding rice field and tropical garden. It was so relaxing after walked around the Monkey Forest Ubud in the hot humid air, just sit there right on the bamboo floor, watching the koi swim around, help the kids feed the fish, and listen to the sound of birds chirping. The rice field just finish harvested when we were there. When the rice field was still green, I am sure it will be more beautiful and more relaxing.
The food serves quickly. All taste wonderful, just like what we expected. We order fish and chips, laksa soup, bebek betutu (duck with Balinese spices serve with salsa), fried rice with satay, avocado juice, ice cream, and fudge brownies plus drinks. The price was still below $100 for four of us for appetizers, main course, drink, and dessert. Plus the fish food that we can purchase there.
We love Bebek Tebasari Ubud because it is unique, relaxing and comfortable.
3. Bale Udang Mang Engking
Located in Kuta and Ubud. Although we can just walk there for 15 minutes to the one in Kuta, with the hot humid air and very busy traffic, I recommend call taxi or uber to go there. We used uber for only $1 to get there from our villa in Seminyak.
Bale Udang Mang Engking is our favorite one, still around Seminyak, a unique and traditional decor similar to Bebek Tebasari Ubud concept. They serve Asian dish mostly Sundanese traditional food (from West Java), Balinese food, and variety choice of seafood. Just make sure to book the table first at least couple hours before going there to get the gazebo eating area instead of the regular dining table.
With nine of us include my parents and my brother’s family, it only cost us about $140. We had seafood, the staple fried rice, fried noodle, rib, roasted chicken, soups, drinks, desserts. We love this restaurant, even it situated in the middle of a busy street in Kuta, but it is relaxing and comfortable. We kept going back to have dinner there.
4. Warung Happy Gen
Located in Kelan Beach around Jimbaran about 20 minutes drive from Seminyak. Warung Happy Gen has a unique decor, with the sandy beach as the floor, straw for the roof and only a few tables. We asked to set up the table right on the beach and open sky. They serve catch of the day seafood from fish, squid, prawn, crab, or oyster, we can pick how many we like then they cook it with Balinese spices.
We had all kind of seafood they have, with seven of us, it only cost $140 for all. We spent couple hours there because my kids can play beach sand there. We love this place, hubby said it is authentic and very comfortable.
I highly recommend these restaurants when you go visit Seminyak, Ubud, and Jimbaran. If we have another chance to go visit Bali again, we will definitely go to these restaurants again and will try some other unique ones.
