Easy To Sew Cord Keeper
A new year is the time to organize things around the house. Well, it can be anytime, but we usually start organizing the house at the beginning of the year by sorting out what we need and what we don’t.

From making a fabric basket for small items to a makeover project covering a paper magazine holder with fabric, these are easy sewing projects and a no-sew project for organizing things around the house or home office.
Add this DIY cord keeper from fabric to organize these gadget cables, a modified version of this cable wrapper that uses four different fasteners. Since the beginning of the year is also closer to Valentine’s Day, this project will use a heart shaped template. The link to download the template is on the supply lists below.
Supply To Make Heart Shape Cord Keeper
Use a 10” x 10” layer cake size fabric to make the same print and color on both sides of the cord keeper, or use two different color and print 5” x 10” jolly bar size fabrics for a mix and match on both sides.

This project uses a snap button for the fastener, but you can use hook and loop like Velcro, or sew a buttonhole with a contrasting color button.

Print the heart shape template. Use a clothes iron to fuse the fusible interfacing on the wrong side of one fabric.

Pin both fabrics together with the right sides facing each other. Trace the heart shape template.
Option 1: Trim the fabric along the traced line. Sew along the edge with 0.25” seam allowance, and skip 2” for the opening gap on the straight edge.
Option 2: Sew along the traced line, and skip 2” for the opening gap. Trim the fabric 0.25” from the stitched line.

Clip or fringe cut along the curved edge. Turn the fabric right side out, and use a chopstick to push the edge.

Fold the opening gap inward, and press the fabric with a clothes iron.

Sew along the edge and close the opening at the same time. Fold the fabric in half to form a heart shape.

Mark the spot for the snap button around 1” from the curve edge. Attach the snap button to the marked spot.

The cable keeper is finished and ready to use now. Roll or coil the cable, place it in the center of the fabric, then click the snap button.

The final size of the Valentine’s Day theme fabric cord keeper is around 4.75” from the left curve edge to the right curve edge when the snap button is on.
Use layer cake size fabric or fabric scraps to make this Heart Shape Cord Keeper, a useful item for organizing cable or gadget cords. #homeoffice #fabricscraps Share on XMore Easy Sewing Projects For Valentine’s Day
