Pint-size Ice Cream Koozie
Having a pint of ice cream while you relax and binge on your favourite TV show is a cozy thing, probably a luxury to have after a long day.

Use this koozie to hold an ice cream cup, so your hand will be much more comfortable carrying a cold cup. You can also use it to hold the heated-up individual oatmeal or noodle cup.
Ice cream cozy or koozie is a piece of fabric bowl shape designed to fit the pint-size ice cream tube with the same function as the bowl holder.
Supply To Make An Ice Cream Cozy
You will get six ice cream pint holders with the same print or colour on both sides from one-yard fabric. A fat quarter-size fabric will get one ice cream koozie with the same colour and print on both sides.
The advantage of using the fat quarter bundles is that you will get multiple ice cream holders with mix and match prints. I always thought that was fun instead of having the same colour and print on both sides.
You can get these 10 inches squares fabric bundles or layer cake bundles to save time cutting and measuring.
If you use this koozie for ice cream only, you can use any quilt batting, cotton only, or a mix of cotton and polyester would be fine. But if you use the cotton-only quilt batting, you can use it for an ice cream cozy or oatmeal cup holder that you prepare in the microwave.
Disclaimer: Any kitchen appliances might have different capabilities. Even though you koozie use cotton batting, I am not sure if it is safe to use it in your microwave.
If you want to use an ice cream cozy pattern or template instead of measuring each fabric and batting, you can get the template that is only available as a printable PDF, and you can click here to purchase for only a few dollars.

If you don’t use the ice cream cozy template (available here), then cut the fabric into these measurements below:
- Cut the fabric into two pieces of 10 inches square.
- Cut the quilt batting into two of 10 inches square.
Lay flat one square fabric with the wrong side is facing up. Put one square batting on top of it.
Pin it together, or use quilting clips. Fold in half and mark the folding spot.
Mark diagonal lines to connect each corner. Sew along the diagonal lines.
On the folding spot lines (vertical lines on the batting), mark 2.5 inches both left and right from the line. Mark 3 inches inward. Connect all marking spots to create the triangle.
Fold the fabric in half along the folding line. Pin it together and sew the connected line on all four sides.
Trim the extra fabric around 1/2 inch from the line. Repeat the process for the other piece of square fabric and batting.
To assembly, pin together both sides of ice cream cozy with the right side of both fabrics facing each other. Or use quilting clips if that is easier.
Sew along the edge and skip 3 inches for the opening.
Clip each corner to reduce bulk. Turn the ice cream cozy right side out. Use the chopstick to push each corner.
Tuck the opening hem inside. Topstitch along the hem and close the opening at the same time.
Add the ice cream cozy for handmade gifts because it is a perfect gift for anyone, and it is a useful item to make for everyday use.
