Supply To Make Pineapple Mug Rug
Use any quilt batting, polyester, cotton, or mix. Also, you can use iron-on fusible fleece.
To make the insulated mug rug, use Insul-Bright insulated lining between cotton batting to reduce condensation. Use the Insul-Bright insulated lining only on the pineapple shape, as the layer will be too thick to use on the crown shape.
Fabric print to make a pineapple mug rug could be something like honeycomb print, lemon slice print, diamond trellis print, zig-zag print, plaid print, or even solid colour, as long as the base fabric colour is yellow to reflect the ripe pineapple.
The fabric for the crown can be solid print, mini zig-zag print, or any other print with a green base colour, and the green colour should dominate the print.
You can make your own pineapple crown pattern by drawing it on a piece of paper the way you prefer for the crown shape. Also, you can use the pineapple crown pattern by printing it through the link below.

Pineapple shape
2 sheets of fabric 8″ x 5.5″ each
1 sheet of quilt batting 8″ x 5.5″
Green fabric for the pineapple crown
2 sheets of fabric 6″ x 6″ each
1 sheet of quilt batting 6″ x 6″
First, make the pineapple shape. Measure one of the fabric rectangles 1″ left and right from all four corners.
Use the protractor to connect the two marked spots on each corner to create a curve line on all four corners.
Repeat the process for the other fabric rectangle and batting.
Pin batting and fabric rectangles together, with the right side of both fabrics facing each other.
Mark a line along the edge 0.25″ for seam allowance.
Sew along the seam allowance line and skip 3″ for the opening.
Turn the pineapple shape right side out.
Use the chopstick to push and shape the edge.
Fold the opening gap inward, then press it with the ironing machine.
Next, make the pineapple crown by pinning together batting and fabric square, with the right side of both fabrics facing each other.
Trace the pineapple crown template on the fabric. The bottom part of the template aligns with one of the fabric edges.
Sew along the traced line of the pineapple crown. Trim the fabric 0.25″ from the stitched line.
Trim the extra fabric on all top corners to reduce bulk. Clip each inside curve like a fringe cut.
Make sure not to cut the stitch off.
Turn the pineapple crown right side out.
Use the chopstick to push each corner carefully.
Press it with the ironing machine.
Topstitch along the pineapple crown edge.
Insert the crown into the pineapple shape through the opening and pin it.
Topstitch along the edge and close the opening at the same time.
The pineapple mug rug is ready to use now.
This mug rug is such a fun shape for the summer month. If you don’t use it for a mug rug, make several fabric pineapples without the batting or insulation, and turn it into a pineapple banner for decorating the mantel, headboard wall in the bedroom, kitchen, breakfast nook, birthday party or backyard party.
