Fuse the fusible interfacing on the wrong side of the fabric using a clothes iron.
Fold the fabric in half lengthwise with the wrong side of the fabric on the inside.
Pin the ribbon ends on both short sides of the fabric, with around 0.5″ between both ribbon ends, to resemble a bag strap.
Unfold the fabric with the right side of the fabric facing up. Fold the fabric again lengthwise with the right side of the fabric on the inside.
Pin it or use quilting clips. Sew along the fabric raw edge with a 0.25″ seam allowance, and skip 2″ for the opening gap.
Clip all four corners to reduce bulk. Turn the fabric right side out. Push each corner with a chopstick.
Fold the opening gap inward, and press the fabric with a clothes iron.
Fold the fabric half widthwise, press it with a clothes iron if needed, pin it, and then topstitch along the left and right sides.
The cute little tote bag is ready to use now as a gift card holder.
The Size Of The Gift Card Holder Pouch
The gift card holder is around 2.5″ x 4″ and will fit up to five gift cards.
If you want to make the tiny tote bag ornament larger to fit the original packaging of the gift card before snapping it in half to separate it, measure the dimension of the whole original gift card packaging, multiply by two and add 0.5″ to the length and the width.
The total length and width are the size of the fabric and fusible interfacing that you need to make one gift card holder bag.
To put the gift card tote bag on the tree, use the tree ornament hook or attach the ribbon strap directly to the tree, just like the ornament.
