Easy step-by-step tutorial to make a square coaster from charm fabric, a quick sewing project that can be completed in just 10 minutes or less, perfect for everyday use or as a gift idea.

Easy Fabric Square Coaster

This easy coaster idea is one of the easiest sewing projects using charm pack fabric. There is no need to measure the fabric, as it is already the correct size for this project.

Use any fabric prints to match your occasion. This fabric print is perfect for a fun fall-season coaster idea.

Supply To Make Square Coaster

This foxy fabric print is from the woodland theme charm pack bundle. It’s the same fabric bundle I use for this easy hand sanitizer holder tutorial.

Since the charm pack fabric size is 5″ square, you can easily make it from scraps by sewing it together as patchwork fabric and then trimming it into 5″ square.

  • 2 pieces of 5″ square fabrics
  • 1 piece of 5″ square batting or fusible fleece
  • Disappeared ink marker, my favorite is the dual-purpose fabric marker
  • Pin or quilting clips
  • Thread
  • Ruler
  • Chopstick
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine
  • Clothes iron or ironing machine

Pin the batting, fabric with the right side facing up, and fabric with the right side facing down.

Sew along the edge with a 0.25″ seam allowance, and skip 2″ for the opening gap.
Clip all four corners to reduce bulk.
Turn the coaster right side out through the opening.

Fox print square fabric.

Use a chopstick or pointy object to push all four corners.
Fold the opening inward, then press the coaster with a clothes iron.
Topstitch around the edge and close the opening at the same time.

The square coaster is now ready for use.

Square Coaster Size

The final size of the coaster is 4.5 ” square. There is enough space for a mug.
