Supply For Making Fridge Door Handle Cover
The fridge door handles cover pattern is customizable depending on your fridge type. For example, my fridge door handle circumference is 4.5″, then I measured the fabric width by adding an extra 2.25″, so it would be 6.75″.
The length of the fabric is also adjustable depending on the fridge you have. The measurement here is a reference only, as I understand there are many different fridge door handle sizes.
You can use hook and loop fasteners like I use here or snap buttons. I also use the leftover cotton fabric from the laptop sleeve and cat mug rug projects.
You will need half-yard or two fat quarter-size fabrics or scrap fabric to get four rectangle fabric sheets with the measurement below.
I use quilt batting for the layer. Also, you can use iron-on fusible fleece. Please follow the direction on the packaging if you use iron-on fusible fleece.
- 4 sheets of 15″ x 6.75″ rectangle fabric
- 2 sheets of 15″ x 6.75″ quilt batting or iron-on fusible fleece
- 2 pairs of 13.75″ long of 1″ width or smaller hook and loop fasteners, like velcro
- Disappeared ink fabric marker, like this dual purpose marker
- Quilting clips or pins
- Thread
- Chopstick
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Ironing machine

Note: Use the measurement provided here for fabric, batting and fastener if your fridge door is the same as mine. Otherwise, it is adjustable to the size of your fridge door handle.
Measure your fridge door handle length and circumference, then add 2.25″ to the circumference, or adjust as needed.
Put the batting on the flat area, and put both fabrics on top, with the right side facing each other. Pin it or use quilting clips.
Draw the line 0.25″ along the edge for the seam allowance. Sew along the seam allowance but skip 3″ for the opening gap.
Clip all four corners to reduce bulk. Turn the fabric right side out.
Push each corner with a chopstick or pencil. Press the fabric door handle with the ironing machine.
Topstitch along the edge and close the opening gap.
Pin the hook fastener on the long side of the fabric and the loop on the back opposite side.
Sew the hook and loop fastener.
The refrigerator door handle protector is ready to use now.
